Enroll in the Worcester Community Choice Aggregation

Enrollment in the Worcester Community Choice Aggregation will be AUTOMATIC for new Worcester electricity customers. This automatic enrollment model is state law. If you will be automatically enrolled, no action is required.

You will receive a notification letter in the mail from the City about the program prior to being automatically enrolled. The letter will include the City seal, and the program name, and it will offer information about the program, options in the program, and prices, as well as information about how to opt out of the program if you do not wish to participate.

If you…

…are not currently enrolled, and you wish to participate

Please submit your enrollment information online or call customer support with Worcester’s program consultants at 1-833-926-1207.

…have asked National Grid to place a block on your account to prevent enrollment with electricity suppliers

The block will prevent automatic enrollment, even if you receive the notification letter. To participate in the Worcester Community Choice Aggregation, you must first ask National Grid to remove the block. Once the block has been removed, you may then request enrollment in the Worcester Community Choice Aggregation.

…sign a contract with an electricity supplier shortly after opening your electricity account

Your account will not be automatically enrolled, and you will not receive a notification letter. However you may choose to enroll your account in the Worcester Community Choice Aggregation by submitting your enrollment information online or by calling customer support with Worcester’s program consultants at 1-833-926-1207.

Please note: We recommend that you carefully check the terms and conditions of your supplier agreement. Your ability to terminate your agreement with your supplier may be restricted. If you decide to enroll, be sure your current electricity supplier knows that you wish to cancel your contract with them so they do not renew your relationship with them.

…previously opted out and now wish to enroll

You may re-enroll, but please note that you may not receive the Worcester Community Choice Aggregation price. The electricity supplier is entitled to charge you a market price for the remainder of the current electricity supply contract, but you would receive the Worcester Community Choice Aggregation price for any future electricity supply contracts. You’ll just want to ask about the price at the time you re-enroll.

How to recognize the notification letter:

  • The return address on the envelope will include the City seal and the name of the program’s electricity supplier, Direct Energy.
  • The letter itself will include the City seal and the name of Worcester City Manager Edward Augustus at the bottom.

If you have an existing electricity account and a contract with an electricity supplier:

You will not automatically be enrolled, but you may participate in the program. We recommend that you carefully check the terms and conditions of your supplier agreement. Your ability to terminate your agreement with your supplier may be restricted.

If you opt out now and wish to enroll later:

You are not guaranteed the Worcester Community Choice Electricity Aggregation program price. The electricity supplier may charge you a market price.
