The Town of Sherborn is pleased to announce the launch of Sherborn Power Choice, a group electricity buying program from the Town that gives residents and businesses more choice and control over the electricity they buy. Sherborn joins nearly 170 other Massachusetts communities that have this type of electricity program, known as an aggregation, including Natick, Ashland, and Holliston.

Through Sherborn Power Choice and the collective buying power of the community, Sherborn electricity customers will get more of their electricity from renewable sources for a price that is lower than Eversource’s current residential Basic Service price for electricity supply, though future savings compared with Eversource cannot be guaranteed. Sherborn received state regulatory approval for the program in December 2023, and the program will launch in June.

The public is invited to attend public information sessions about the program:

  • Wednesday April 17th, 10:00 to 11:00 AM, in person at the Sherborn Town Hall (Select Board room) or remotely via Zoom.
  • Thursday April 25th, 7:00 to 8:00 PM, in person at the Sherborn Town Hall (Select Board room) or remotely via Zoom.

Three new, consumer-friendly options

Sherborn Power Choice offers three electricity choices so you can select the option that is right for you.

New participants will be automatically enrolled in Sherborn Standard. Sherborn Select and Sherborn Basic are available by request.

Participate

 Most Sherborn electricity customers will be eligible for automatic enrollment! If you receive a notice in the mail from the Town, no action is required. You will automatically receive the Sherborn Power Choice Standard price beginning in June. Sherborn customers with a private electricity supply contract are not eligible for automatic enrollment, but requesting enrollment is easy. Learn more.

Compare the cost

 Compare program prices to Eversource’s current Basic Service prices, or use the online calculator to compare Sherborn Power Choice prices with the most recent 12-month average of Eversource’s Basic Service prices and see the cost and greenhouse gas emissions impact of participating.

How it works

 Sherborn Power Choice is a group electricity purchasing program. Participating in Sherborn Power Choice will change your electricity supplier and the price Eversource uses to calculate the Supply charge on your electric bill, but participating will not replace Eversource as your electric utility. Make sure you’re enrolled

If you are enrolled, Sherborn Power Choice will be integrated into your existing Eversource electric bill beginning in July 2024. Your supplier will appear as Sherborn Power Choice – Gridwealth.

Savings cannot be guaranteed

Please note that, while Sherborn Power Choice will offer the potential for savings when compared with Eversource’s Basic Service price, there is no guarantee of savings. This is because Eversource’s fixed Basic Service prices change every 6 months for residential and small business customers and every 3 months for large business customers and future Eversource prices are not known.

Protect your Eversource account number

Eversource will NEVER knock on your door or call you to talk about your electricity bill. If Eversource wishes to discuss your bill, they will do so in writing. Also, all communication about Sherborn Power Choice will be in writing and will bear the Town seal. Only provide your Eversource account number if you are ready to change your electricity supplier.
