Enroll in the Cambridge Community Electricity Program
New electricity customers in Cambridge will be automatically enrolled in the Cambridge Community Electricity Program, in the Standard Green offering. This automatic enrollment model is state law.
You will receive a letter in the mail from the City with information about the program before enrollment occurs. The letter will include the City seal, the program name, and the City Manager’s name at the bottom. You may choose to opt out before being enrolled or any time after being enrolled with no penalty or fee.
- If you have signed a contract with an electricity supplier, you will not automatically be enrolled, but you may participate in the program. We recommend that you carefully check the terms and conditions of your supplier agreement. Your ability to terminate your agreement with your supplier may be restricted. If you decide to enroll, be sure your current electricity supplier knows that you wish to cancel your contract with them so they do not renew your relationship with them. If they resubmit your account for enrollment to Eversource, it can interfere with your enrollment in the Cambridge Community Electricity Program.
- If you previously opted out and now wish to enroll, please note that you may not receive the Cambridge Community Electricity Program price. The electricity supplier is entitled to charge you a market price for the remainder of the current electricity supply contract, but you would receive the Cambridge price for any future electricity supply contracts.
