Chelsea Electricity Choice is a group electricity purchasing program from the City of Chelsea for Chelsea residents and businesses. The program impacts the Supply charge on your Eversource electric bill.

Using the buying power of our community, Chelsea Electricity Choice provides:

  • Leave any time with no fee or penalty

The program is a City alternative to Eversource’s Basic Service and to other electricity offers in the marketplace.

Three consumer-friendly options

Chelsea Electricity Choice offers three options so you can make the choice that is right for you.

New participants will be automatically enrolled in Chelsea Basic, which is the lowest-priced option in the program. Chelsea Standard and Chelsea 100% Green are available by request.

Participate

 New electricity accounts in Chelsea will be eligible for automatic enrollment in Chelsea Electricity Choice. Automatic enrollment occurs on a periodic basis and only after you receive a notice in the mail from the City. You may also choose to enroll online or with a phone call. Learn about enrolling.

How it works

 Chelsea Electricity Choice is a group electricity purchasing program. Participating in Chelsea Electricity Choice will change your electricity supplier and the price Eversource uses to calculate the Supply charge on your electric bill, but participating will not replace Eversource as your electric utility. Make sure you’re enrolled

If you are enrolled, Chelsea Electricity Choice will be integrated into your existing Eversource electric bill.

Your supplier will appear as Chelsea Electricity Choice-Direct E.

Savings cannot be guaranteed

Please note that, while Chelsea Electricity Choice will offer the potential for savings when compared with Eversource’s Basic Service price, there is no guarantee of savings. This is because Eversource’s fixed Basic Service prices change every 6 months for residential and small business customers and every 3 months for large business customers and future Eversource prices are not known.

Protect your Eversource account number

Eversource will NEVER knock on your door or call you to talk about your electricity bill. If Eversource wishes to discuss your bill, they will do so in writing.

All communication about Chelsea Electricity Choice will bear the City Seal and the name “Chelsea Electricity Choice.” Only provide your Eversource account number if you are ready to change your electricity supplier.
